Don Alan Chop Cup Magic Trick 1970S Rings N Things
This is an original don alan chop cup magic trick made by rings 'n things of st. Louis, mo in the 1970's. It is made of aluminum with mike brazill's trademark 'magepoxy' finish, adn weighs approximately 3-1/2 ounces. The cup is free of dents and scratches, and still has a beautiful finish to it. It is about 3-3/4 inches tall and approximately 3-1/2 inches across the mouth fo the cup.
This item was used very little, and has always been stored in its original red velvet draw-string bag (included). The cup also comes with the original pair of crocheted balls, and complete instructions featuring don alan's famous routine. The eight-page booklet, printed by magic inc, has a 19-word typo no page 4 of the instructions, and the erroneous text has been marked out in pen. The edit was done by myself back in the 1970's, and is necessary if the routine is to make any sense. This is a fairly easy trick to perform, almost self-working, but to do it well, as with any magic trick, it does require a certain amount of practice and showmanship.
The don alan version of the chop cup is a very sought-after collectible by magic collectors and magicians. It is a popular design because of it's ability to hold such a large load for the final climax of the trick. Don alan made the chop cup routine famous on his own television show (the magic ranch) in the early 1960's, and with his later appearances on talk shows and variety shows into the 1970's. The white ball mysteriously jumps from the magician's hand and pocket to beneath the cup and back, ending up with two larger balls or fruits (not included) being produced from the cup. There is a recent book in print all about the don aaln chop cup routine, and a new incarnation of the rings 'n things company(rnt2) has just released a new don alan style chop cup which retails for $200. Here is your chance to own the original and in near mint condition! This would also make an incredible holiday gift for your favorite magic enthusiast, collector or performing magician.
